A list of the birds known from Roti and adjacent islets (Lesser Sunda Islands) Naturalis
Mees, G.F..
INTRODUCTION Father Verheijen (in press) has given a narrative of his visit to Roti, with a list of all birds recorded from material, personal observations, and hearsay. Although several of Verheijen's own field observations are entirely reliable, other species mentioned by him cannot be regarded as of anything but very doubtful occurrence. Therefore I have considered it useful to compile a list of those birds which are now known from collected specimens. Previous to Father Verheijen's studies, ornithological knowledge of Roti rested entirely on a visit to the island made by the anthropologist Dr. H. F. C. ten Kate in 1891 (22 August — 9 September). During his stay ten Kate did some collecting of miscellaneous zoological objects, which he forwarded to...

A MODEL OF NEW ZEALAND APPLE SUPPLY RESPONSE TO TECHNOLOGICAL CHANGE AgEcon
Rae, Allan N.; Carman, Hoy F..
A supply response model for New Zealand apples is specified and equa•tions for new plantings, removals, yields and adoption of an innovation are estimated. The model expands on perennial crop models previously estimated by incorporating the time pattern of adoption of a planting innovation and formulation of a measure of yield expectations given technological change.

A new genus (Discapseudes N.G.) and three new species of Apseudidae (Crustacea, Tanaidacea) from the Northeastern coast of South America Naturalis
Bacescu, M.; Gutu, M..
On the basis of an abundant material from the north-eastern coast of South America, viz., from the mouth of the Suriname River and a few other localities, the authors describe a new genus, Discapseudes, with the species D. surinamensis and D. holthuisi as well as a new species, Halmyrapseudes spaansi.

A new species of Chasmodon Haliday (Hymenoptera, Braconidae, Alysiinae) Naturalis
Achterberg, C. van.
During an acarological study of brackish habitats in the Netherlands, a wingless species of Chasmodon was discovered. Because of the intermediate shape of the notauli it was not possible to identify it with the key of Hedqvist (1962), and therefore I propose another key for the wingless and brachypterous specimens of Alysiinae. The new species is compared with C. apterus (Nees von Esenbeck, 1812), which is the only other species of the genus. Key to the genera of wingless and brachypterous Alysiinae 1. Scutellum indistinct, strong constriction in middle of mesosoma; second abdominal tergite petiolate. (Mediterranean; 4 spp.)........... .............Pseudopezomachus Mantero, 1905 — Scutellum distinct, constriction wanting; second tergite may be slender, but...

A new species of Corynespora Naturalis
Loerakker, W.M..
In the course of investigations on fungi occurring on bark of deciduous trees, an unknown dematiaceous fungus was encountered. Because of its long, septate conidia, arising from the apex of dark conidiophores, the specimen was thought to represent an undescribed species of the genus Corynespora Güssow. This identification was kindly confirmed by Dr. M. B. Ellis, C. M. I., Kew.

A new species of Gilmaniella from the soil of Kuwait Naturalis
Moustafa, A.F..
In the course of investigations on the fungal flora of the salt-marsh soils of Kuwait, a Gilmaniella species was isolated twice in 1973. Its smooth vegetative mycelium and large conidia with relatively wide germ pores indicated that it is sufficiently different from the only known species in Gilmaniella, G. humicola Barron (1964), to warrant its description as a new species.

A new Stenolemus from the Philippines (Heteroptera, Reduviidae, Emesinae) Naturalis
Doesburg, P.H. van.
During investigations of fig-wasps in the Philippines in 1964, Dr. J. T. Wiebes collected a new species of bug, a small reduviid belonging to the genus Stenolemus Signoret: its description is presented here. For comparison, the type specimen of Stenolemus crassirostris Stâl, 1870 (similarly from the Philippines) has also been studied, and supplementary descriptive notes, together with drawings of some important structures of this species are included. I am indebted to Dr. Wiebes for presenting us with this interesting specimen, to Dr. P. I. Persson of the Naturhistoriska Riksmuseet, Stockholm, for loan of the Stâl type, and to Mr. J. A. Grant, B. Sc., London, for his valuable criticism and for reading the manuscript. Stenolemus wiebesi spec. nov. (figs....

A NOTE ON THE COMPARATIVE COST OF LIVING IN SYDNEY AND COUNTRY TOWNS IN NEW SOUTH WALES AgEcon
Davidson, Bruce Robinson; Tierman, M.F..
A comparison between the cost of living of average wage earners in Sydney and nineteen country towns in New South Wales was carried out in 1974, assuming that expenditure on items of goods and services was distributed in the same proportion as in the Consumer Price Index in both country towns and the city. Housing, which was cheaper in the country, was the only group of major consumer expenditure where a significant difference between city and country town costs could be detected. The differences between the costs of food, clothing, services and miscellaneous items of expenditure in the city and country towns were not significant. A study using regression analysis revealed that there was a significant positive correlation between the size of country towns...

A note on the occurrence of Oligochoerus limnophilus Ax & Dörjes (Turbellaria, Acoela) in freshwater habitats in the Netherlands Naturalis
Dörjes, J.; Young, J.O..
The only hitherto known freshwater acoelan, Oligochoerus limnophilus, has been fully described by Ax & Dörjes (1966). It has been recorded from habitats of different European rivers: Elbe, Ilmenau, Lahn, Main, Mosel and Donau (Kothé, 1961, 1962; Kothé & Sturz, 1963; An der Lan, 1964) where it prefers to settle on artificial stone embankments and is absent from typical lenitic regions and in river parts with a high organic pollution. The species has also been recorded from irrigation canals of rice fields in the Camargue (leg. U. Graefe). Ax & Dörjes (1966) suppose that O. limnophilus emigrated during postglacial periods out of the ponto-caspian area into their new environments because all the other species of the genus have been found in the...
